DIY Rick Deckard Costume Guide
Rick Deckard, played by Harrison Ford, was the protagonist of the 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner. Deckard is a cop – a blade runner – in a futuristic version of Los Angeles. His job is to “retire” (kill off) genetically manufactured humanoids known as “replicants” if they happen to find their way to Earth, where they’re illegal. Unfortunately for Rick, there’s a much darker component to this dystopian society than meets the eye and he’ll need all his resources to fight it.
Quiet and mysterious, but with a powerful sense of justice, Rick is the kind of guy who role model in a society that desperately needs good men. Deckard is an underrated cosplay costume that is sure to be a hit at any sci-fi convention.

How to Dress Like Rick Deckard
Rick Deckard Costume Breakdown
Rick’s hair is a short-clipped, slightly shaggy dirty blonde cut, timeless and always fashionable. That’s great news for anyone who doesn’t like a high maintenance costume! If this isn’t your natural hair color, you can always wear a wig, or use hair dye to get that Blade Runner Harrison Ford look. He also has matching eyebrows and sideburns, but if you don’t, you can draw them on with a dark blonde eyebrow pencil, or plan a few weeks ahead so you can grow them out yourself.
Jacket and Outfit:
Rick’s not a flashy guy. He prefers to blend in with the crowd when doing police work and that’s why he opts for a simple brown jacket over a black v-necked shirt. Check out the links above for a jacket that closely resembles the one worn by Deckard. He also wears brown pants that is befitting a detective a pair of black loafers for functionality when he’s chasing down replicants.
No Rick Deckard costume would be complete without a police badge and a pistol. You can purchase a plastic gun and plastic gold police badge online or you can have fun creating your own from recycled household materials.
About Rick Deckard
“The report read Routine retirement of a replicant. That didn’t make me feel any better about shooting a woman in the back.”
